Visitation Fact Sheet
Visitation During an Outbreak:
- When a new case of COVID-19 among residents or staff is identified, the Facility will continue to allow visitation.
- Vaccinated residents who are not considered as a close contact may participate in visitation, wear source control unless actively eating and drinking. Indoor visits are allowed in the resident room only.
- Unvaccinated residents who are not considered as a close contact may participate in visitation, wear source control at all times, and physically distance from others. Indoor visits are allowed in resident room only.
- Vaccinated residents who are considered a close contact may participate in visitation, wear source control at all times unless actively eating and drinking. Indoor visits are allowed in resident room only.
- Unvaccinated residents who are considered close contact will be placed in quarantine. General visitation is not recommended but will be allowed and will occur in resident room. Compassionate care, end of life, essential caregivers are allowed.
- Residents with suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 will be placed in TBP. General Visitation is not recommended but will be allowed and will occur in resident room. Compassionate care, end of life, essential caregivers are allowed.
- Outdoor visits are allowed unless the resident is quarantine or isolation for COVID 19
- Physical touch is not recommended but allowed if necessary for the resident’s well-being or if the resident chooses to do so.
Notification of COVID Risk and Status: Visitors will be notified about the potential for COVID- 19 exposure in the Facility. The Facility will also notify residents, families, guardians, and the long-term care ombudsman of relevant operational changes.
Visitation for Residents with known or suspected COVID-19 and the resident is on Transmission Based Precautions:
- Though visitation is not recommend, residents will continue to receives visits. In these cases, visits will occur in the resident’s room only and the resident should wear a well fitting mask.
- Outdoor visits are not recommended.
- Visitors will be advised before visiting a resident on TBP of the risk of visiting and precautions necessary in order to visit the resident.
- Visitors are to adhere to core principles of infection control including hand hygiene, well fitting facial coverings, appropriate social distancing and PPE.
- The facility will provide appropriate PPE and visitors are to wear well fitting mask, gown, gloves and eye protection.
- Physical touch is not recommend but is allowed if necessary for the resident’s well being or if the resident chooses to do so.
