Summer Series at Oakton Arms

Generations at Oakton Arms is proud to announce the schedule for our Summer Series of events for the summer of 2016. Our Summer Series consists of special events, entertainers and guest speakers for our residents, family, and friends to enjoy. We have a very exciting lineup this year including the multi-instrumentally gifted Dan the Drummer; and guest speakers bringing us an amazing presentation on the arrival of the Statue of Liberty in America and also a fascinating history of Des Plaines and the surrounding area. You won’t to miss any of these!

July 18th
Dan the Drummer
Dan has been to Oakton Arms many times throughout the years. Please
join us a wonderful afternoon full of music, stories and laughter. His talent will amaze.
1:00pm – 2:30pm
Light Refreshments will be served

 

August 3rd
The Statue of Liberty Arrives with Donna Horwitz
Liberty Enlightening the World, the generous gift of the French people that
stands on American soil, began life as an ambassadress of friendship. Join us for a fascinating
program on unknown facts on Lady Liberty.
10:00am – 11:30am

August 9th
Des Plaines History Center presents
“You Will Like Des Plaines”
Philip Mohr is currently the curator at the Des Plaines History Center. He has compiled information from records held at the museum and elsewhere to create a stimulating presentation. The slideshow starts in the early 1800s and runs through the recent past, including information about Potawatomie people, the
Des Plaines River, early settlers, railroads, local industry, and suburban development.
