Dialysis

Generations at Oakton provides on-site hemodialysis services within our skilled nursing environment. Our dialysis program utilizes the advanced NxStage system, offering the latest in renal technology in a state-of-the-art and patient-centered setting.

Hemodialysis is a treatment in which blood is filtered through a mechanical process when a person’s kidneys can no longer perform this function. This process removes waste, toxins, and excess fluid from the bloodstream and helps maintain the body’s proper chemical balance.

For individuals with kidney failure or other conditions that require ongoing renal support, Generations at Oakton’s on-site dialysis program offers the highest level of clinical care and supervision in a convenient and coordinated setting.

Generations at Oakton’s on-site hemodialysis program is provided through a partnership with Dialyze Direct and their highly skilled staff. The program is overseen by Board-Certified Nephrologists and is offered Monday through Friday, allowing for a consistent treatment schedule with weekends at rest.

Our program utilizes the NxStage dialysis system, an innovative platform designed to deliver efficient and carefully controlled dialysis treatments. Compared to traditional dialysis machines often used in outpatient centers, NxStage technology allows for more gradual and balanced fluid removal when clinically appropriate. This approach can be gentler on the cardiovascular system, supporting greater blood pressure stability and reducing stress on the heart and other vital organs.

Dialysis treatments are performed at the resident’s bedside rather than in a separate dialysis den, promoting comfort, familiarity, and continuity of nursing oversight throughout the treatment process. By integrating dialysis directly into the resident’s care environment, we enhance coordination between renal therapy and overall medical management.

Generations at Oakton is committed to providing quality of life for our residents in comfortable and familiar surroundings. Our program includes:
