Our annual Oktoberfest event was recently held at Oakton Arms. Our residents and guests were greeted by our staff and activity aides with bright smiles and vibrant energy for the event. Our staff also decorated the lobby in fall colors and fall leaves to compliment the event. As residents and guests made their way to our dining room the fragrant smells of an Oktoberfest feast filled the halls! A hearty selection of bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato salad, pulled pork sandwiches, tasty beverages and more was on hand for them to enjoy.
After everyone enjoyed their food they moved to our atrium where German entertainment expert Frank “K” Duo provided authentic German Music and Lederhosen. Frank has been our entertainment for Oktoberfest for 15 years and has a range of entertainment instruments with Frank on synthesizer and accordion and Fran on drums and vocals. Frank and his 45 years of experience as a musician is a great asset that customers appreciate. Frank “K” Duo plays all the traditional German songs with Fran adding vocals to include songs in German and have authentic attire to compliment the performance.
One resident said that no matter how many times she has seen Frank he always gives her a great show and provides great entertainment.
Oktoberfest is a traditional autumn festival held in Munich, Germany, every October. The heart of the festival is about coming together and having a good time with lively music, mouthwatering food, and big pints of beer. We are always excited in the weeks leading up to our annual Oktoberfest and love to see our residents and guests have a great time.
